There is a new feature on our website to help make volunteering easier. Lots of good information and questions answered and there will even be in the very near future a calendar to sign up for a specific day and time. Follow this link: cdaskeetandtrap.com/Volunteer.html

OPPORTUNITIES TO VOLUNTEER:

Anyone willing to help with Winter League duties, such as score keeping, loading houses, snow shoveling, working the front counter, etc. There is an opportunity to serve for any skill set!

-Anyone willing to help move cases of birds into the skeet and trap houses would be appreciated.

-There are many small tasks that need to be done regarding maintenance and repair, organization, cleaning, weeding, etc. If you have a few hours to donate or even a full day, contact Roger and he can set you up with a task.

If you're interesed in any of these opportunities, or have other ways you'd like to help, contact the Club.

Volunteers vs. Compensated Members — An Important Distinction

Do I have to volunteer to be a member of the club?

No. Volunteering is not required. However, because we are a nonprofit and largely volunteer-run, member participation is what allows the club to operate smoothly and remain affordable.

Why does the club rely so heavily on volunteers?

We have one paid employee (the Club Manager). Everything else—daily operations support, league help, maintenance, and improvements—depends on members pitching in. Without volunteers, the club could not operate at its current level of service and our pricing would have to increase dramatically to pay for several additional employees.

What’s the difference between a Volunteer and a Compensated Member?

A Volunteer helps with no promise, expectation, or receipt of compensation. A Compensated Member (CM) performs approved, scheduled work and may receive a limited incentive, in compliance with nonprofit regulations.

Why can’t all volunteers receive compensation?

As a nonprofit organization, we must follow specific legal and tax rules regarding compensation. To remain compliant and keep costs down, only certain scheduled roles qualify for the Compensated Member program.

Which roles qualify as Compensated Member roles?

Currently, Daily Operations Assistants and League Support Assistants, as well as certain approved maintenance or facility projects, may qualify. Qualifying roles and work are currently at the managers sole discretion.

What does a Compensated Member receive?

For every 12 hours of approved and logged work, a Compensated Member may purchase a shooting card at a 55% discount from the regular member price. IRS reporting rules may apply depending on annual totals.

Can I decide after the fact to log my hours as compensated?

No. Any work done with the expectation of logging compensated hours must be approved and scheduled in advance by the Club Manager.

What if I only have a small amount of time to help?

That’s perfectly fine. Even a few minutes—scoring a round, loading a machine, or tidying up—makes a meaningful difference.

How do I sign up to help?

An online scheduling calendar will be available soon. Until then, please speak with the Club Manager to discuss opportunities.

Will the same people always be expected to help?

No. One of our goals is to grow the volunteer pool so responsibilities are shared more evenly and no one feels overburdened.

Is my help appreciated even if it’s occasional?

Absolutely. Every contribution—large or small—helps keep the club open, safe, and enjoyable for everyone.

Compensated Members (CM)
A Compensated Member (CM) is a member who performs approved, scheduled work for the club and may receive a limited incentive, in accordance with nonprofit regulations.

Effective January 1, 2025, the Board adopted the Compensated Member Policy to provide a fair and consistent way to recognize members who contribute significant, ongoing time to club operations.

Under this policy:
•For every 12 hours of approved and logged work, a CM may purchase a shooting card at a 55% discount from the regular member price.
•All compensated work must be approved and scheduled in advance by the Club Manager in order to be eligible.
•This program primarily applies to Daily Operations Assistants and League Support Assistants, as well as certain approved maintenance or facility projects.
•Depending on the number of discounted cards purchased within a calendar year, IRS reporting rules may apply.
This policy ensures compliance with nonprofit requirements while recognizing the dedication of members who help keep the club operating day after day.

Be Part of What Keeps the Club Going
Whether you can spare five minutes or a full day, your help matters. Every role—formal or informal—contributes to a safer, more enjoyable club for everyone.

If you’re interested in helping or would like more information:
•Talk with the Club Manager any time
•Watch for the upcoming scheduling sign-up announcement

Please vote for our Board of Directors. Three Board of Directors positions are open for election in February 2026. Voting will take place February 4 - March 1, 2026. Results will be announced at the March Board Meeting, Wednesday, March 12th at 4:30 p.m.

Please be diligent to pick up your spent hulls after shooting a round. Magnetic sticks for your use are located on all the fields. They are in the houses on the trap fields. Please return after use. Only pick up your hulls after shooting a round but be very aware of safety and other fields that could currently be shooting.

Reminder: A high level of awareness of safety is imperative to all participants in our sport. Be diligent to follow all the safety rules, including but not limited to never closing your action until you are on your station and ready to call pull, your muzzle is always pointed straight up or straight down for auto loaders when not shooting and pointing down range when shooting. Break action should always be open unless ready to call pull. Please ask any questions you may have at the front desk or you can ask for a copy of the safety rules.

Another ATA shoot is scheduled for Sunday, April 26th. There will be 100 singles, handicap and doubles. Awards and cash prizes. Plan to come shoot. More info to follow.

The club is in need of shooting instructors. If you know of any please refer them to Roger.
