Ways You Can Help
There are several ways to get involved, depending on your availability and interests and skill set.
Our Two Biggest Needs Are For:
1) Daily Operations Assistants
Daily Operations Assistants work directly alongside the Club Manager and are essential to the club’s day-to-day operations.
Responsibilities may include (depending on ability):
• Helping open and shut down the club with set up before shooting begins & take down at end of day
• Running the front desk and POS system
• Filling trap houses and machines throughout the day
• Assisting with safety briefings
• Scoring for league shooters
• General facility support (trash, coffee, organization, and more)
Having at least one Daily Operations Assistant on each day we are open allows one person to focus on field operations and safety while another manages the front desk, greatly reducing wait times and improving the experience for everyone.
AND
2) League Support Assistants
League Support Assistants provide critical support during league shooting, especially throughout the Winter League season.
These assistants help with:
• Keeping trap, Skeet, and 5-Stand houses and machines loaded
• Scoring and or pulling for league shooters
We aim to have at least one League Support Assistant each day we are open for league shooting, in addition to the Club Manager and regular daily operations volunteers. This role is essential to keeping league events running safely and smoothly.
Help Keep the Club Running Strong — A Call for Volunteers & Compensated Members
Our skeet & trap club is a nonprofit organization that exists because of its members. While we do have one paid employee, our Club Manager the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and overall success of the club relies heavily on member volunteerism.
The manager works every day we are open (Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday), plus an additional day each week for administration and maintenance. Even with that dedication, the workload is simply too much for one person alone. Volunteers make it possible for the club to operate safely, smoothly, and enjoyably for everyone.
We are incredibly grateful to the volunteers who already step up regularly. To keep from burning out the same few people—and to ensure the club stays strong long-term—we are working to grow our volunteer pool and spread the workload across more members.
Additionally We Always Looking For Volunteers As:
Member Helpers (Informal Volunteering)
Member Helpers are members who lend a hand while they’re already at the club for their normal shooting.
Examples include:
•
Loading a trap machine or filling a house
•
Keeping score for a league shooter or squad
•
Taking out trash or tidying common areas
This help is unscheduled and optional, often lasting anywhere from 5–20 minutes, though sometimes longer. There is no expectation or obligation—just neighbors helping neighbors. Even small contributions like these make a big difference and are always appreciated.
Club Work Day Volunteers
Club Work Day Volunteers help during scheduled work days focused on maintaining and improving the club’s facilities.
Tasks may include:
•
Property and clubhouse cleanup
•
Fence repair, painting, mowing, and landscaping
•
Equipment and machine maintenance or repairs
These are typically one-day events and are a great way to contribute alongside other members in a group setting.
Scheduling Made Easy
We will soon be launching an online scheduling platform that will allow members to:
•
View available shifts
•
Sign up for full or half-day shifts
•
Plan volunteer time well in advance
This system will primarily be used for Daily Operations Assistants and League Support Assistant roles.
Because we are a nonprofit organization, it’s important to clearly define how members may help at the club and how certain roles are recognized.
Volunteers
A Volunteer is a member who helps the club without any promise, expectation, or receipt of compensation.
This includes (with some exceptions):
•
Informal help as a Member Helper
•
Participation in Club Work Day Volunteers
•
Any spontaneous or short-duration assistance while at the club
Volunteers give their time purely to support the club and its community. These contributions—no matter how small—are essential and deeply appreciated.
Volunteers vs. Compensated Members — An Important Distinction
Do I have to volunteer to be a member of the club?
No. Volunteering is not required. However, because we are a nonprofit and largely volunteer-run, member participation is what allows the club to operate smoothly and remain affordable.
Why does the club rely so heavily on volunteers?
We have one paid employee (the Club Manager). Everything else—daily operations support, league help, maintenance, and improvements—depends on members pitching in. Without volunteers, the club could not operate at its current level of service and our pricing would have to increase dramatically to pay for several additional employees.
What’s the difference between a Volunteer and a Compensated Member?
A Volunteer helps with no promise, expectation, or receipt of compensation. A Compensated Member (CM) performs approved, scheduled work and may receive a limited incentive, in compliance with nonprofit regulations.
Why can’t all volunteers receive compensation?
As a nonprofit organization, we must follow specific legal and tax rules regarding compensation. To remain compliant and keep costs down, only certain scheduled roles qualify for the Compensated Member program.
Which roles qualify as Compensated Member roles?
Currently, Daily Operations Assistants and League Support Assistants, as well as certain approved maintenance or facility projects, may qualify. Qualifying roles and work are currently at the managers sole discretion.
What does a Compensated Member receive?
For every 12 hours of approved and logged work, a Compensated Member may purchase a shooting card at a 55% discount from the regular member price. IRS reporting rules may apply depending on annual totals.
Can I decide after the fact to log my hours as compensated?
No. Any work done with the expectation of logging compensated hours must be approved and scheduled in advance by the Club Manager.
What if I only have a small amount of time to help?
That’s perfectly fine. Even a few minutes—scoring a round, loading a machine, or tidying up—makes a meaningful difference.
How do I sign up to help?
An online scheduling calendar will be available soon. Until then, please speak with the Club Manager to discuss opportunities.
Will the same people always be expected to help?
No. One of our goals is to grow the volunteer pool so responsibilities are shared more evenly and no one feels overburdened.
Is my help appreciated even if it’s occasional?
Absolutely. Every contribution—large or small—helps keep the club open, safe, and enjoyable for everyone.
Compensated Members (CM)
A Compensated Member (CM) is a member who performs approved, scheduled work for the club and may receive a limited incentive, in accordance with nonprofit regulations.
Effective January 1, 2025, the Board adopted the Compensated Member Policy to provide a fair and consistent way to recognize members who contribute significant, ongoing time to club operations.
Under this policy:
•
For every 12 hours of approved and logged work, a CM may purchase a shooting card at a 55% discount from the regular member price.
•
All compensated work must be approved and scheduled in advance by the Club Manager in order to be eligible.
•
This program primarily applies to Daily Operations Assistants and League Support Assistants, as well as certain approved maintenance or facility projects.
•
Depending on the number of discounted cards purchased within a calendar year, IRS reporting rules may apply.
This policy ensures compliance with nonprofit requirements while recognizing the dedication of members who help keep the club operating day after day.
